Dr. Linsey Marr on Airborne Transmission of Infectious Diseases

In this episode, we talk with Dr. Linsey Marr, the Charles P. Lunsford Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. Dr. Marr talks about her research on the transformation and fate of pollutants in the atmosphere, the transmission of infectious disease by aerosol viruses in the built environment, and the environmental and health impacts of the engineered nanoparticles. She leads the applied interdisciplinary research in AIR laboratory, and teaches courses on air pollution and environmental engineering. She is a fellow for American Association for Aerosol Research, and the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate. She serves on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s board on environmental studies and toxicology. Her research on airborne transmission of infectious diseases has focused on influenza, Ebola virus disease, Legionnaire's disease, and COVID-19.
