Member Profile:

My interest and engagement in global engineering is multifaceted and driven by a desire to make a positive impact on communities in developing countries. I hold an engineering degree and have practical experience working on global engineering through my involvement with Engineers Without Borders. I am also deeply interested in the intersection of social and cultural with engineering , which is why I completed an MA in social and cultural pedagogy from Arizona State University.

My thesis research focused on designing a framework for integrating community development and humanitarian work into engineering education. Through a literature review and data collection via interviews and surveys of engineering students involved with Engineers Without Borders, I have authored conference papers envisioning ways of reforming engineering education through service-learning.

My interest in sustainability and ecology in engineering education and ethics has led me to present papers on this topic at international conferences, including the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference in Seattle in 2016 and the Earth Charter International Conference in 2019. Through this research and conference participation, I have become familiar with Engineering for Sustainable Development and its importance in the field of global engineering.

My recent engagement in a summer followship with Engineering for Change has allowed me to apply my knowledge and skills in technical projects to enhance energy access in Native America Reservations. I am eager to continue pursuing opportunities for engagement and growth in this field, and I believe that my background in engineering and social and cultural pedagogy makes me well-positioned to make a meaningful contribution.
