Member profile:

As I begin my eighth year in engineering, I have noticed how much the field has changed. Even in this short amount of time, I have seen more international collaboration and a push to help students learn about engineering and problem-solving outside the United States. In working with the Rising Sophomore Abroad Program (RSAP), I have grown significantly in the ways I think about engineering. In my mind, RSAP provided such a unique opportunity because of the wide variety of ways it encourages personal development. Traveling to another country with a group of students pushed me to become a stronger leader, develop my interpersonal skills, step outside my comfort zone, and challenge my views of the world. No other program does so much in so little time, and it was this experience that sparked my interest in the impact of study abroad global engineering.  I want to contribute to the understanding of why programs like RSAP are so impactful (for both leaders and students) qnd contribute to new, cutting-edge research that pushes us to think about how we can help engineering students become more globally competent.
